The idea is to use books as central to the work or sometimes incidental.. it enjoys the oscillation between the words trying to mean something and the image trying to take over the meaning.
I see what I do as experimental philosophy.. and I use the methodology of art to inform the emerging questions. My approach centres around drawing and performance. I like the idea of multiple meanings inherent in our symbolic structures – interacting; mutating.. because it gives the possibility of novel emergent meaning that is beyond my capacity to come up with. I treat the symbols these as objects (sometimes they are even objects, like toasters and chaotic machines of my own making) and in a performative I want to see what these objects compel / invite us to do.
