This sculpture features 16 tree stumps arranged in a square grid. Like a graveyard from the future, they stand as a stark reminder of what we have lost and how we are interconnected. Some hope comes from the single living tree stump sprouting new leaves asking the question, will the realisation of our co dependence come in time to save what’s left? 
As an emerging artist Vanessa’s work is progressive and gaining clarity. Her practice incorporates traditional forms into a contemporary idea space where a deeper understanding of herself and her observations are transformed visually. Many of Vanessa’s ideas come from her interests in world affairs, nature, climate and fascinating people.
