Opportunists Requiem
.
Cyanotype print on Stonehenge paper, various approx 56cm h x 37cm w 2022
The "Opportunists Requiem" is a continuing project, removing weeds from areas in the Blue Mountains recovering from bushfire; creating cyanotype print stencils and artwork from their elegant dried forms.
The project began in 2020 as a response to the Blue Mountains World Heritage Institute bushfire recovery arts program, the practice continues to give me pleasure, removing from a fragile landscape opportunistic species and enjoying their shapes pressed upon printmaking papers.
Folding, stitching, rolling papers at varied exposures nods to the diversity of plants regrowing in a transitioning landscape.
