Elke Wohlfahrt is a German-born, Australian artist with a BVA (1st Class Honours) degree of Sydney University (Sydney College of the Arts) in sculpture, installation and performance as well as an Advanced Diploma of Fine Arts in painting and sculpture from Sydney Gallery School (TAFE Meadowbank).
Wohlfahrt’s sculptural work either reflects art-historical movements like Arte Povera or Minimalism or follows merely aesthetic rules and notions. With a nod to environmental issues she only uses found and donated objects and memorabilia in creative ways to produce small to large sculptures and installations with or without a particular meaning.
