Evelyn Chan is a Sydney-based artist expanding Chinese calligraphy through movement, gesture and space. Working primarily with ink on xuan paper, she explores how calligraphic marks can move beyond written language into human form, spatial relationships and abstraction. Her practice is grounded in the physicality of the brush - pressure, rhythm, breath and movement, and often examines connection, transition and the tension between intention and possibility.
