Maxwell Arthur
Ozone Scrubber
.
Photograph, framed (prints available) 106 x 79 cm, 2022
Ozone Scrubber, (a varied edition of 5) initiates a dialogue surrounding the differing climates of the self. The undercurrents, isobars and radiating seismic faults. This work explores distortion through a bifurcation of emotional experience. The subject is freed from representations of the conventional and re-represented as a new dysmorphic self.
Maxwell Arthur is a printmaker currently studying at the Royal College London. This piece, Ozone Scrubber was selected for the 2022 Royal Academy summer exhibition by Greyson Perry, for his curation of the yellow room. Maxwell Arthur's art challenges both individual and collective identity by enquiring into and then revealing his subjects alter ego(s).
