I carry a box of assorted parts; some abandoned, some made some found. All have been kept as they posses some quality of worth to me. They have 'potential'. This collecting however can also feel like a burden. The chaos of clutter or a bad habit I cant seem to break. It was time to look again with fresh eyes, to be decisive and see what they might liberate. Has my making imroved? Has my position changed on what consitutes jewellery. Do they really have potential?
I recently finished a Tafe certificate 3 in Jewellery Manufacture and I have some exposure to contemporary jewellrey a Sydney College of the Arts. My practice here follows an assemblage methodology. The design evolves though a process of mixing and matching until a path of action becomes clear.
