Maps are defined as diagrammatic representations of areas of land and water. We use maps to find our way and yet they are often difficult to read. ‘Lost’ began with a map of Newtown made in 1885. It traces roads and structures built by colonialists on the land of the Gadigal and Wangal people. By removing the spaces (structures) and text the viewer is left with webs of roads that could be from any built environment and any time.
Molly walks in the urban, suburban, and rural landscapes using photography, drawings, and written reflections to share her walks with others. Molly has exhibited her walking art in several group and solo exhibitions since completing her BFA and Honours degree at the National Art School and UNSW School of Art and Design in 2016.
