Concrete & Foam, dimensions various 450mm x 650mm x 33mm
Songstress 3 is the third iteration in this exploration of form making. It explores the idea of taking a flat sheet material and expanding it to create volume and rhythmic structure. The work explores the idea of modular precast concrete forms as a way of building a new architectural typology. Made up of a series of concrete sculptural wave forms. The idea proposes a new way of building using a series of modular precast concrete parts that can inform the built environment. The concrete material gives the form a sense of permanence. It explores the idea of creating a building using a simple precast concrete system. At this stage the work is situated somewhere between two thoughts, sculpture and design. It has the possibility of being translated and or expanded across various scales, systems, mediums and functions. Whilst there are significant differences between architecture, design and sculpture. The three disciplines overlap at their edges, and it is here that this work is situated.
