Phong Le

My wall sculpture is made out of recycled cardboard. It consists of 2 pieces, the one on the left is the map of my hometown in Vietnam, a small town called Cao Lanh of Dong Thap province. The one on the right is Bankstown, NSW, Australia is my hometown now.
Homes in two worlds: the world that I left as a refugee is Vietnam. The world that I embrace now!
Both are my homes. I often think of Cao Lanh and miss it dearly even after all those years. And I visited it when I could. When I am in Vietnam for more than 2 weeks I miss life in Australia. The two worlds are so different in living standard, culture, tradition, food, values. I am lucky to be at home in both places.'
