Candy and Doom
.
2023 site specific installation MDF, timber, IKEA furniture dismantled, paint dimensions variable courtesy the artist
Candy and Doom is a site-responsive installation that explores various intersections between painting, sculpture and architecture. ‘Neither painting nor sculpture’, my installations are conceptual elaborations upon colour, space and form. Abstract, direct and temporal, my work responds to the site, engaging with the architectonics of exhibiting spaces.
Candy and Doom is a chromatic intervention motivated by engagement with the site, the materials, and the spectator.
The installation aims to establish links outside the purely pictorial boundaries, venturing into different dimensions of time, space and form; becoming topological enfolding of narratives that encompass social ideals, cultural exchanges, perceptual experiences and conceptual motivations.
