Janet Tavener (b.1960 Australia) visually investigates our planet's sustainability crisis. She works predominately with photography & sculpture and has exhibited internationally and throughout Australia. Having been a finalist art awards including the Blake Prize, Sulman Prize and the National Photographic Portrait Prize, (2011, 2013 & 2015). In 2017 winning the major award of North Sydney Art Prize, Coal Loader for Sustainability. She has been an artist in residence for the Historical House Trust, Sydney, SIM Residencies, Iceland in 2017 & 2023 and AARK Residency in Finland 2025. Her work is in numerous collections including Australian Parliament House. She holds a BA in Fine Arts & a Graduate Diploma in Professional Art Studies - City Art Institute, a Graduate Diploma in Education - UTS and a MFA from University of NSW.
