In Pharmatopia, I use the format of medicine boxes to fabricate modern sculptures while eliminating the written information and retaining only the design. The installation consists of forty-two small sculptures, life-size to the original package. The reductivism and paring down in this work is in line with the machine aesthetic, which in turn references the unrelenting machinery that is the pharmaceutical industry.
My research-based practice consists of personal and universal issues framed by linguistics and semiotics. A recurring theme in my work is how we see and understand our place in the world.
