Acrylic, papier mache and wood, 130x60x9cm, 2026

Peta Hinton lives and works in bushland on Dhurag and Gundungurra country, NSW. Her papier mache painted sculptures fuse botanical interpretations with features of industrial revolution era architecture. Her practice explores value systems that appreciate nature as a source of inspiration for decoration while exploiting and devaluing actual nature.
Drawing on past experiences working at the National Herbarium of NSW and in Bush Regeneration, her work reflects on western scientific knowledge systems in the context of colonisation.
