Screen
.
The artwork has two components, both made in 2025, window frame, fly screen mesh and pigment, 124cms (h) x 79cms (w); Mixed media on Stonehenge Paper, 76cms (h) x 111cms (w)
SCREEN began with an idea to recycle an almost perfectly made but discarded window screen. I found the window screen with its semi-transparent material interferes with one’s perspective of any surrounding landscape. By combining this idea of disrupted vision along with the process of working with the given materials the artwork titled ‘Screen’ began to form itself.
LOCATION
The preferred location for the screen is upstairs on the brick wall to the left of the louvered window, with the drawing pinned on the wall to the left of the screen (on the wall leading to the doorway).
The screen’s placement with the brick wall behind it relates it to the louvered window as well as frames a compressed ‘view’ of space. The placement of the drawing between the screen and the doorway provides another type of spatial outlook. The drawing is also an integral part of the development of ‘Screen’
