Stravinsky's Spring Sketch Book
.
1m x 1m x 1m work in progress
Materials: wound springs from various materials including bronze steel rusted wire, guitar and piano strings
This work can be considered through a series of mistakes:
The release of tension found through tightly winding wire in to springs
The joy of discovering the tangled sculptures left trampled on the morning floor
The necessity of springs in our life - unless they have been created to ridiculous lengths
The individual beauty and fragility of single strands of wire as they separate from the cluster
Creating and exhibiting a variety of small to medium size sculpture made from predominately hand wrapped springs and mesh. These wires and meshes will be in a variety of muted colours, unless a wild mood takes me during the development of the work.
The pieces will grow to a larger single work during the exhibition
