This candy coloured painting using oil on linen examines two key examples of Australian hard-edge abstraction from the era of The Field exhibition. Contemporary theorists refer to this period of art history as the penultimate chapter of homosocial late modernism. The title 'Female Masculinity' aims to recoupe the excess libido of hard-edge painting with the aim of judiciously redistributing it across a spectrum of genders.
