Time, emotion, and imagination are the unseen components always present in my work. Inspired by NASA’s monochromatic composite imagery collected from outer space over the years, the painting Magenta Field is my imaginative presentation of the unpresentable sensations and feelings of wonder while contemplating the unknowns of the universe.
My practice investigates concepts of the cosmic sublime. I apply layers of paint over many weeks, preserving colour washes, brushwork, paint pouring, splattering, and spraying between layers of transparent medium, to form a visible record of transformation and accumulation. This approach mirrors the timeless changes of the universe and makes the unseen visible.
