The work is about language, its substance and place in our lives. We consume words on paper and online to stay informed, expand our knowledge and experience different perspectives. Written and spoken words and symbols are arranged and rearranged as part of defining who we are and the world we are part of. Language can carry knowledge and new ideas, as well as manipulate, confuse, agitate and deceive.
Pia Larsen is a Gadigal/Sydney based artist with an interdisciplinary practice that engages with history, representation and the poetics and politics of language using text, colour, form and space. Her work utilises a range of materials, mediums and technologies that include, print, laser cutting, photography, paper and drawing.
