The idea of the sculpture came from sitting in front of a blank large piece of cardboard contemplating what I could create out of it. Referring back to some of the sketches in my note book I came up with nothing. I started sketching on the cardboard then erased it and repeated a few times until I had a shape of a person sitting in a meditative state. Suddenly I remember I wrote a poem in 2009 called ‘Waiting’ that would suit equivocally as the poem is about waiting in various state of mind, calmly and agitating. So, I worked on the cardboard sculpture, cut it into 3 pieces then wrote the poem using black acrylic paint. Titled ‘Resting Place’ as in a way of resting, meditating, thinking, waiting, contemplating etc. in different state of mind.
