__hours is my decade-long slow-burn installation project (2015–2025), built from White Pages- those chunky, obsolete business phone books folded and taped into anatomical, shadow-casting forms. Yes, it’s paper. Yes, it’s probably a fire hazard. But it’s also a time machine. A protest. A philosophy session with scissors.
Folding gives me space to reflect on life, connection, and time—not capitalist, clock-time, but the kind you feel in your body. I think about the Telstra payphones I prank-called from, the psychic hotlines I rang “for research,” the landline convos where yelling from the toilet was normal. That kind of presence is rare now. I miss it. So I fold.
This work isn’t about nostalgia—it’s about resistance. It’s about freedom. It’s about doing something slowly, obsessively, until people have to take it seriously. It’s about making boring stuff strange and alive again. I think with shadows and sticky tape. I talk about power, bodies, and connection—just not in academic footnotes (sorry Žižek).
Sometimes we talk like directories, not humans. This project says: cut that out. Be real. Be messy. Take time. Take up space. You don’t need permission to make something weird, beautiful, and true. You just need to start.
