I think the prettiest people can keep their socks pristinely white, untouched by the world, as if their feet hovered. So, to determine how pretty I am, I decided to go on a walk wearing only my whitest socks. On reflection, this is a horrible gauge to judge beauty, but it left me with a pair of dirty socks, some photos and eventually a soap cast on my foot. So, who is really losing here?
If I measure life in the moments that go unnoticed, I might rediscover something of astonishment. My practice investigates documentation of the everyday. Whether I have a genuine curiosity about others or simply an inclination to observe, I am drawn to the everyday as a kind of soft data set. Documenting feels as significant as the moment itself. Recently, my approach has begun to shift. What once leaned toward neutral observation now carries a more personal commentary. My work has started to reflect not just what I see, but how I see it.
