Angela Hayson

My work is concerned with connection and interaction within a group, the awareness of one’s individuality and separateness from others. I am interested in what is revealed and obscured of the genuine self. This body of work aims to explore dual identities of embracing one’s own idiosyncrasies in order to remain authentic to self, and the public persona constructed according to social norms and expectations. The sculptures, constructed from Australia Post delivery boxes originated during the 2021 Covid lockdown. Isolation required alternative means to face-to-face connection to continue interaction and exchange.
