The Birds Have Stopped Singing
.
inks and gouache on cartridge paper, 150 x 260cm, 2021-22
This work was created in response to the horrors of the 2019-2020 fires. It is based on an accumulation of images taken on my iPhone while the ABCTV news unfolded over Christmas and New Year 2019-20.
Louise Owen’s multi-disciplinary conceptually-based practice spans nearly 30 years, whilst teaching tertiary level students at TAFEs in sculpture, drawing, and painting.
Since becoming a full-time working artist in 2012, environmental activism has been become more explicit in her practice.
