Oil and graphite on canvas, 140 x 90 cm, 2025
Lana Ardere is a Sydney-based multidisciplinary artist working across painting, ceramics, drawing, and printmaking. Her practice combines figurative and spiritual motifs with poetic ideas and scientific theories, often through unexpected material juxtapositions.
Ardere’s recent works explore a possibility of discovering new visual shapes associated with contemporary culture. She collects and combines various traces of peoples’ activities within urbanistic lifestyle to depict human nature without direct reference to human body. Her art practice is inspired by marks people leave behind in their everyday lives: graffiti, signatures on dusted windows, chewing gums and splashes of paint on concrete sidewalks.
