1 / 49 Sighs
.
Canvas, gesso, beeswax, copper tack, 49 slips of paper, Perspex 17 x 13 x 13 cm, 2017
This work was 1 of 49 shown in an installation work, 49 Sighs (paintless paintings) at Factory 49 in July 2017. Using the material language and rhythms of painting, these paintings-as-sighs draw on the interactions and metaphorical possibilities arising between reductive materials, form, process and body. The Sighs are formed from materials traditionally unseen and supportive of painting. Supported by a single tack, a canvas surface of recycled textiles is formed around an exhalation, sealed with beeswax and filled with suggestion.
