These works employ a combination of digital and traditional processes. Photographs are digitally edited and turned into half-tone dot images. I then project the image and use a pokerwork machine to burn the dots into the paper.
This combination of mediums gives a hand-made final image that has a greater haptic dimension than one produced through digital/mechanical processes alone.
Kendal Heyes’ work covers a range of mediums including drawing, painting, printmaking and photography. He has been exhibiting regularly in Australia and New Zealand since the 1980’s. His work is held in many collections in both countries including Victoria, Massey and Otago Universities in New Zealand, and the National Gallery of Australia and the Art Galleries of South Australia and NSW in Australia.
