These drawings are all about repeating the same action on the paper over and over again; it is creation in the process of drawing and is about creating a methodology for one drawing following two rules: making the same pattern always and pushing them ad absurdum. The main idea is to let the image appear without any preconception but with the spirit of adventure, where the primary intention is to discover through the process all the possibilities of the drawing and how organically the image rises from the unconscious and stays manifested in the paper, giving the opportunity to the person who is observing to contemplate it find its own view of it.

I am Carlos Velasquez, I am an artist from Colombia, I have been showing my work in Colombia, USA and Australia. My practice as an artist involves experiments with drawing, video, and photography. It is important to me to create the space for the audience to contemplate the artwork as something that brings the opportunity to think about what we are perceiving and how it affects us. The approximation that I have to the art starts thinking about how we create from the unconscious and how this can be collective but at the same time personal and ineffable.
