Paonazzo marble, 22 height by 18cm including shelf, 2022
I made this piece during my participation in a marble carving course in a quarry near Carrara/Italy where Michelangelo himself found his material. My piece is of a particular type of marble called Paonazzo from that area. Smoothly sanded areas emphasise the natural beauty of a stone that Mother Earth has created over millions of years.
