Strength and Vulnerability

Carla Danelutti, Jerry Doherty, Shelley O’Keefe and Philip Senior

Upstairs  | Opens on Jul 4 until Jul 26 | Fri, Sat & Sun

Strength and vulnerability sits at the core of what it is to be human. This exhibition looks at the creative responses to the human condition by 4 different artists in the VOX 421 group and asks its viewers to engage on its impact regarding culture, community and the artistic process.
Strength and vulnerability sits at the core of what it is to be human. Carla Danelutti, Jerry Doherty, Shelley O’Keefe and Philip Senior take us on their own creative journey revealing different aspects of vulnerability and strengths through themes of mortality, cultural identity, activism, gender and the creative process.
These emerge from an accumulation of personal experiences to the broader context of existence in our current social, communal and political worlds.
We ask the viewer, as we asked ourselves, how the role of creativity impacts on our identity and how our strengths and vulnerabilities impact on today’s current climate and cultural authenticity.
Works include painting, drawing, installation, sculpture, analogue and digital drawing and unique state prints.
